Triple Ridge Club Get Together

Under glorious clear blue Colorado skies the Triple Ridge Insulator Club enjoyed its annual spring get together. This year the event took place at the home of Ray Curiel in Castle Rock. Ray was a gracious host and a good time was had by all. Collectors from as far away as Alamosa made the journey to enjoy good food and swap some great stories. Matt Poage and Ray Curiel shared cooking duties and I must say my brat was perfect! There's just nothing quite like hot food off the barbeque on a 75 degree day with a bunch of insulator collectors. It's always easier to wheel and deal on a full stomach anyway!

Galen's green Mulford and Biddle

During the course of the day some very nice pieces traded hands and many future deals were negotiated. Dan Gauron out of Colorado Springs took home several nice pieces including a near perfect H mold E.C & M. There were also some nice show and tell pieces including a green 1871 bullet with some cool white rocks in the skirt, a dark olive CD 131.4, and a Pluto found near Silverton, Colorado. Galen Howard brought two fantastic Mulford and Biddle threadless insulators, one in a terrific green and another with two huge bubbles. Needless to say there was some very nice eye candy for everyone. The best glass however was inside the house in one of the nicest insulator rooms you will ever see. Ray Curiel has a fabulous selection of color pieces with a nice mix of unusual and difficult CD numbers. The collection is beautifully laid out in a well organized and visually pleasing manner. Everyone at the get together spent lots of time enjoying the insulator room. I asked Ray what his favorite piece was and he just couldn't pick one but I'll bet his new dark purple CD 125 W.U. ranks right up there. Ray also recently picked up a beautiful orange amber CD 287.1 Locke insulator.

As the afternoon rolled on everyone reluctantly packed up their stuff and began to look forward to the next event. Triple Ridge President Mike Miller is already working on a possible summer tailgater in Canon City and an October get together in Colorado Springs. Between now and then I'm looking forward to a terrific National in Austin!

Good luck collecting.
